A individual accused with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly left her a recorded message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned communication data and evidence retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test over that period.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I know."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I just want to know," the message continued.

The tribunal was advised that via electronic messages, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with the police force who collated the data, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On 9 October 2024, the father answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will persist and I will prove my claim."

The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Phone records demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be considered genuine in the time before the visit to that location, the county, in that winter.
